No real stand-out ties this weekend as the FA Cup progresses to the fourth round. Television thinks there could be an upset on the cards in their televised games – not least those at Deepdale and Pride Park.

Accrington Stanley, who are they? So went that old advert for nice cold, ice cold milk back in the day. They sit perilously close to the drop zone in League One, but league positions count for little where the Cup is concerned. Recent results include a 4-0 drubbing at Derby (yikes), a 3-1 defeat at Barnsley, a draw at Lincoln and victory over Bristol Rovers. Leeds are also just above the relegation places, albeit two divisions higher, and they may not be relishing a hard trip to Lancashire. Could be interesting. Away win.

The only all-Premier League tie of the round. Don’t bet against the Seagulls. Home win.
STOKE CITY vs STEVENAGE (1400)
Barring late-season cataclysm, Stoke are near-enough safe for another season. Stevenage are riding high in League Two and have promotion in their sights. This will be a good test for them. Have they got what it takes to overcome their out of-sorts hosts? David and Goliath of the lower reaches of English football. Away win.
WREXHAM vs SHEFFIELD UNITED (1630)
Who can forget our epic ties against Wrexham in the early 1980s? Fortune has not been kind to them since and they now find themselves fighting to return to the Football League. But they do sit at the top of the National League, so have some fight in them. The Blades, meanwhile, are pushing for a return to the Premier League. Should be straightforward. Away win.

DERBY COUNTY vs WEST HAM UNITED (1945)
Botanically, the banana is a berry and its plant is a herb not a tree. Its skin is most familiar when yellow, but it can also be red or purple or, as today’s game suggests, black and white with a dodgy accent. It is slippery and is known to have upended numerous trespassers. Although they find themselves in League One, the Rams are in a rich vein of form, having won their last five league games. The same cannot, sadly, be said of us. So the ingredients are all there for an upset that would do little to reignite David Moyes’ fortunes. He’ll have to field a strong team, which he’s said he would. Expect Antonio to play a significant part. It will be good to get this one out of the way in the most positive way possible. Away win.

Call me old fashioned but I like the idea of some part time plumber helping to get a team up who’ve never been in the football league before, and for some reason I don’t feel the same towards the likes of Mullins on £4,500 a week.

Chelsea are a good parallel, albeit from 1905.
Only club outside the founding 12 Football League never to have played at a lower level.
Bought their way in with a millionaire's resources.
Even if it was at the expense of Tottenham, it stank.
(If someone had to be privileged at Tottenham's expense, it should have been us...)

Billericay, Ebbsfleet and Crawley nowhere near backed to the level Wrexham have been, Salford have and had the same media bollocks narrative around them as Wrexham which most people have seen through

I agree with you paulon. The other clubs in Wrexhams league must be wondering why they bother when they have such an advantage, they are on championship wages not league 1. As much as I dislike sheff united I loved it when they got the equaliser and if we beat derby I’d love either of these 2 away

Wrexham can pay what they like but the fact is if they get to the Championship in three or four seasons none of today’s players will be in the first eleven. And that eleven will be commensurately paid much better than today’s performers.
